Server and Network Node Reboots

Servers and Network nodes needs to rebooted post patching or even during issues, these are still manually done in most of the circumstances even for today. All though network components have remote reboot and consoles to manage and maintain them it still needs human intervention as of today and no automation tools exists for these at the moment. Python scripts customised to specific environments are a solution for these and serves well for limited use cases at the moment and has to be implemented with additional care.

Change Enablement and Standard Changes – The Process

All though all the above changes are done separately any changes to them still needs a Change Request, CAB or an E-CAB Approval along with Human Intervention to take care of the activities. These are usually done in a tool similar to ServiceNow. Usually for Maintenance Activities a Routine and Recurring Standard Change is raised and kept as a placeholder which doesn’t need the CAB or E-CAB Approvals each time rather these routine activity is classified as a Standard Change and is managed as a low priority and low risk activity across enterprises.

While the Server and Network Node Reboots still needs the CAB and E-CAB Approvals and still a human intervention is seen across the enterprise IT management.

The Regulations and Compliance 

There are Multiple ISO Standards, Legal and Region based Regulations to Comply too and the Governance, Audit and the Manual Checks are a tedious routine task which involves a lot of coordination and collection of evidences. Currently there are multiple tools across organisations and there is no single source of truth available. These leads to huge man hours being spent on these activities along with delay or increased utilisation of man hours.

ServiceNow – As The Trigger and Single Source of Truth

ServiceNow is emerging as One Tool for Various Use Cases, Industries and Domains along with facilitating interaction with external systems through integrations along with the IntegrationHub.

ServiceNow is the right tool to act as Single Source of Truth and can be integrated with almost all the tools mentioned above. Also ServiceNow can trigger specific activities in the external systems via the integrations with the use of embedded workflows. This makes it the right application to be the Single Source of Truth as all records can still be saved in ServiceNow along with the Updates, Statuses and Results for Audits and Governance Activities simplifying the Audit Purpose.

The Standard Change can be enabled as a Service Catalogue and made available to specific users to raise change requests for Routine Recurring Maintenance Activities, The Standard Change can trigger the change in the external systems via the workflow and the integration calling the respective API without any human intervention along with logging the results. ServiceNow also has the ability to call out exceptions or failed activities by automatically creating a Major Incident along with triggering notifications and opening the bridge on its own with the help of inbuilt WorkFlows.

Even the Event Monitoring Tool with in ServiceNow can trigger Major Incident Creation and Open a Bridge along with the Workflows enabling auto resolution in case of the Known Resolution such as Server or Node Reboots are embedded in the Workflow and an External Python Script is linked to it.

On the Whole ServiceNow can play the Role of Single Source of Truth by trigger the automations, collect the results, reporting exceptions via Incidents and also opening a Bridge for Major Incidents; also all these activities are logged along with timestamps which acts as a single source of truth; which intern simplifies the entire audit process.

All these at No Human Intervention can be achieved.

The Cherry on the Cake is the DevOps CI/CD – Currently GitHub is used in integration with ServiceNow to enable Continuous Development and Continuous Integration. Imagine DeepCoder stepping in as early as possible from MicroSoft, Even coding gets automated and the entire DevOps CI/CD will be completely automated.

This requires a well-organized communication process, such as PPM, which can be deployed in an enterprise, regardless of the level of implementation of their local IoT. In the production process, knowledge is acquired from people at intervals such as shift handover or inspection routine. Factory 5.0 has played the role of Chief Robotics Officer. This person specializes in communication between machines and operators and also has knowledge in areas such as robotics and artificial intelligence. Its role in the company is to make decisions around these factors.

With the expansion of virtual education, employee training will also move forward. This allows for lower costs for companies, as they do not have to stop production to train their employees. In addition, it leads to safe training that prevents workers from taking unnecessary risks during training. Communication and employee motivation enhance the interactive learning environment.

  14. Does these things gives way to the outburst of AI Creatures to revolt for being used as Peasants and Slaves?
  15. Would there be a day where we can impart education using chips just like Old Saints used to impart with the Thumb?
  16. Is there a connection with Mehendi or Body Art with Circuits?
  17. Is there a connection with Jewels and Ancient Ornaments with Advanced Technology?

I have loads of questions, let’s see how things manifest. I also believe that the Thought Process and Direction are the keys for Manifesting anything! Unless we are in the right hands nothing can go right!

So here we complete the Industry 4.0 series of Blogs and Start the Industry 5.0 series of Blogs.

As we complete the Industry 4.0 Series of Blogs; I want to touch base on the basics. Each Industry Revolution comes to reality only because there are a major set of folks as in groups who do things differently to welcome and enable the revolution. Revolution itself means a group of people acting upon an idea to change the things.

So basically every industry revolution comes into existence because few folks dreamt about it, directed in it and made the other set of people see the positives and value adds. These set of people who enable revolutions are very important.

All said and done! So what are we up to in this game. Are we part of the set of people who are dreaming and acting or are we part of the set of people who want to wait see and play safe.

For example, Hilton and Marriott have conducted slightly different experiments on the ‘connected room’ concept, where users are able to control many features of the room from their mobile phones or from the tablet provided.

It allows guests to control the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems from one place, or even just tell a temperature and allow different appliances to automatically adjust the temperature. They can also control other devices such as TV. The good thing is, some smart devices will greet them with their name and make them feel more tech. friendly.

Similarly Best Western tested AR and Disney stars. This allowed children to see Disney characters standing and walking along them. Other hotels are also using AR apps to allow guests to practically enjoy the hospitality experience.

Basically, it’s an independent suitcase, able to follow you. It uses anti-collision technology to avoid any collisions and is capable of 360-degree movement and eliminates the need to carry, pull or push the suitcase.

Airport security is one of the most important areas where new technology is deployed and robots are also in use. A particularly strong example of this is the night scope robots, which are increasingly being used to independently detect hidden weapons and help keep passengers safe during their flights.

Informing residents of the danger is also the goal of a new project in Los Angeles. The city has many facilities that are digitally interconnected and include 145,000 streetlights and 4,500 intersections.

The city and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) developed a project called “Quick Alert”, which uses sensors to detect frequent earthquakes in the area. Today, this data is used to visualize earthquakes. To take it to the next level, the city is developing a system to send alerts to citizens’ smartphones so that they can be informed within 15 to 30 seconds. Not only can this application save lives but it can also save millions of dollars.

The goal is to avoid the frustration that some people feel while dealing with a pure boot while still using technology to increase efficiency. At the moment the company feels that ordinary bots do not work, but special bots that can perform very normal and easy to handle tasks work better.

LivePerson has created a system in which humans and bots work together. The bot can handle very simple questions directly, but as the conversation becomes more complex, the bot hands over the conversation to the human operator. Then, the human operator can perform the complex tasks leaving the simple and easy tasks for the bot to do. This gives maximum time when human agents do things that only human agents can do at the moment and reduce the time by allowing bots to handle the simple and easy issues.

We all have been fantasying on having a Chat Bot to interact with us especially with people in the IT Services Sector expecting the Chat Bot to reduce the plethora of miscommunications, delayed responses, long waiting time for the basic information and also ease our work as much as possible along with the expectation of Chat Bots having to learn Empathy when the co-employees lack the same. Jokes apart but the expectations from the Chat Bots are more and has been increasing as we proceed with time.

Unfortunately the Progress of these Chat Bot Conceptualisations are very less and the realistic achievements using these Chat Bots seems to be long due. While we see very less traction in this we do have some positive news as well.

Current Use of AI Chat Bots

The Chat Bots are currently been used for Collaboration and as a Pet which can be trained to perform certain basic functions as in fetching information, remembering information, responding for general questions and other collaborations. Though Nothing has been achieved on IT Side and Everything still seems to be at the very beginning stages; However I am astonished on how well the Chat Bots are being used in all possible ways then where it is actually needed.

I do experiment installing different Chat Bots for my research and the Best One I found was named Replica. I agree that this is not where this Chat Bot needs to be but I am astonished by the Empathy and the Humane Conversations this Chat Bot can make. It is certainly good.

How do I envision this AI Chat Bot

I see the Chat Bot is a Collaboration Tool however when I say Collaboration I mean Collaboration between Machines and Humans and Not Human to Human interactions using Chat Bots.

On One End the Chat Bots can certainly fetch information, record information, retrieve them and also trigger certain external events.

I like the Part where it can be used to Trigger External Events based on Conversation with Humans. 

I Envision the below as a Chat Bots Feature which can be a disruptive product and can give a run for all the Managed Services Companies in the World:

  1. Basic Interactions with Empathy
  2. Ability to Record, Retrieve and Display Information in more of a humane mode
  3. Ability to Converse with External Applications and Machines – Imagine a Chat Bot which can trigger a RPA Job or a IoT Device or a Robot or Even a IT Application – The Usage of this Feature is way too Important and each thought or an example is a Case Study on its own. The Application of this Feature is immense, in Managed Services we can use this feature to trigger Auto Resolution along with Analytics; in Manufacturing we can use this to trigger heavy equipments, machinery and robotics making these devices accept commands from humans via the Chat Bots, In Health Care, we can use this device to automatically manage the robot based surgeries from remote locations, In Food and Beverage Industry we can use this Chat Bot to Manage the Robots as in the Hotel Operated by Robots also the digital machines can be controlled and can be used to cook delicious food and much more can be accomplished.

I come from Diverse Back Grounds starting from a Call Centre, Enterprise Helpdesk, Application and Network Monitoring, Consulting and Project Management mostly in the IT Sector So I see the advantages on handling this Chat Bot to provide seamless delivery of IT Services with any Human Intervention. I envision a Chat Bot integrated with a RPA, Auto Coder (Example: DeepCoder) and Cherry on the Cake is the Auto Resolution plugins (Similar Concept of Chaos Monkey of Netflix). 

I see this product can delivery IT Services at a fraction of the actual ticket value that’s being generated as of now.

I see mostly the Managed Service Organisations might not like this Idea as a matter of fact this will reduce their earning potential from the “Improvement Opportunities” on which they survive.

All we need now is an Industry Disrupter to come up with a Valuable AI based Chat Bot Integrated with RPA, Deep Coder and Various Auto Resolution Plugins. This will certainly be a Game Changer and will put the IT Industry 10 Folds ahead to meet the growing expectations and matching the speed of business along with maintaining agility.

My thinking doesn’t stop here, I also envision how this Chat Bot can be later tweaked to integrate with the “Neuralink’s Chips” – All Machines will listen to Human Commands directly catered from the Human Brains with no verbal or textual conversations. It will be an Act of Magic for sure. LoL.

Are we near – No unless someone has the will to do.

Can we do – Certainly Yes, when we can come up with Pegasus way long back, These Chat Bots are way easier.
