Introduction to “Industrial Revolution V” or “IR V”

An Introduction to the Concept of Industrial Revolution V or IR V coined by “LKN”

I am Lokesh Kumar Narayana (LKN). I have been envisioning what the Next Industrial Revolution will shape up to. As I proceeded further, I decided to capture my thoughts and convert them to books. I published my first book, “The Odyssey of Industrial Revolution – The Dawn,” and many times pointed out that I would be covering the significant aspects of Industry 5.0 in the upcoming book I am researching on “The Odyssey of Industrial Revolution – The Dusk.”

I have started my research, and it’s ongoing for the Second Book, which is in progress, and I am excited to inform you all that it’s shaping out well.

An individual brought to my notice that he used Industry 5.0 as a term about something specific part of Sustainability and Waste Management; Though I want to disregard his statements as Industry 5.0 is more of a general term and has been inevitably planned from the time Industry 1.0. I don’t want to involve in trouble. I do agree that the Next Industrial Revolution will result in Industry 5.0 or Fifth Industrial Revolution or 5IR or Next-Gen Industry or Next Generation Industry whatsoever it would undoubtedly be a by-product of the Next Industrial Revolution. It will have different traits like how the previous industrial revolutions were.

All Said and done, I don’t want to dwell on seeking unwanted attention leading to problems in the future. Hence, I decided to present the highlights of the ongoing research that I am conducting in line with the Second Book. I am planning to publish along with that I would like to highlight here in this the Term I will be using to refer to the By-Product of the Next Industrial Revolution will be “Industrial Revolution V” or “IR V” where V signifies to the Roman Numerical although the reference is same as the Industry 5.0 or Fifth Industrial Revolution or 5IR or Next-Gen Industry or Next Generation Industry; I would be using the term coined by me “Industrial Revolution V” or “IR V” for the sole purpose of ensuring I don’t possibly infringe any possible intellectual properties as claimed recently.

By writing this post and article, I also claim that this thought process is my own and a conclusion based on the research being made, which is still in progress and would certainly change to a degree based on research completion.

Traits of Industrial Revolution V or IR V as described by “LKN”

Traits of Industrial Revolution V or IR V will be the most disruptive innovations arising from well researched and developed technology-based outcomes that will not only change the way the products, services, and consumables are being used but also will change how the manufacturing and the functioning of these products, services, and consumables. You would not only see a Flat Hierarchy Structure in the IR V Companies but also will witness the increase in the number of companies facilitating and operating globally. These companies’ revenue will be much higher than today and possibly work from multiple habitats. The Processed Information available for these organizations of IR V is immense, and the possibilities of how it can be used are also enormous. We have seen previous industry versions operating by scaling manufacturing times, driven by information and resources; the IR V will see the immense number of Disruptive Innovations taking humans on a completely different path than before. We would be a generation that will witness and enable the possible growth humans can have in one single Industrial Revolution. The IR V will make human life a lot easier by transforming their ways of working to their consumption of services and consumables.

All said and done with additional responsibilities comes the different challenges; there is a need to make our values stronger with value and human-centric based governance and control mechanisms to direct and make a positive impact with IR V. The IR V in the making will be susceptible and will undoubtedly have a negative effect and may make be the cause for human extinction if not managed and directed well.

Here are a few of the aspects that IR V or Industrial Revolution V has for us based on my research so far:

IT enabling Industry 5.0 in Health Care

IT enabling Industry 5.0 in Health care

We have already seen the amazing benefits that health care sector has enjoyed by implementing industry 4.0 models in operational processes such as maintaining records, billing, accessing and securing patient’s data and medical history and so on. But, the IT is advancing day-by-day paving the way for the next industrial revolution. In this article, we will be talking about how IT will enable industry 5.0 in health care in near future.

Personalisation

Nowadays, consumers are focusing on the personalized products according to their special needs. Industry 5.0 is known as the fifth industrial revolution where the personal needs of consumers can be met.

Previously, Industry 4.0 enabled massive automation in different sectors, which was not enough. Nowadays, the customer wants massive personalization, so Industry 5.0 makes them largely personalized as needed.

It provides the customer with the product according to their specific needs.

This industrial revolution refers to the interaction between people and machines to make work better and faster. Robots play a major role in loading, unloading, painting, welding, and so on. The journey of this industrial revolution has begun in which there is a great potential to keep the customers happy according to their wish. Quality, safety, and waste reduction are on the rise.

The medical profession is working towards a personalization where a device is used that can meet personal needs and can help to check sugar level, blood pressure, and other body parameters.

Collaborative machines in Medical sector

Wearable technologies provide physicians with real-time information about patients’ real-time health, and these data can be incorporated into individual’s medical records, helping with data mining for both individual patients and groups. These intelligent devices can communicate with each other, and doctors can provide the appropriate medication according to the individual patient’s needs. This revolution uses various software to implement the routines and lifestyles of our daily lives. It introduces mental intelligence that is completely life-changing for humans and learns how our bodies are reacting. It automates the operational process and helps innovate the medical field.

Industry 5.0 Smelt can learn from big data to create innovation. It builds a digital knowledge network that provides relevant medical information and important patient records. It uses collaborative robots to improve accuracy and quality. Thus, robots are being used to collaborate to perform unique surgeries on the operation table. Surgeons can enjoy the benefits of this technology.

Artificial Intelligence

Industry 5.0 transforms large-scale personalization into reality, providing more specialized components in the medical field. These personalized components are used for medical treatment to meet the unique needs and lifestyle of the patient. Personalized medical implants, artificial limbs, physiology, and transplants have been developed in this revolution using a technology capable of Industry 5.0 that can work naturally. In this new world, smart sensors rapidly analyze data using artificial intelligence. Machines are able to make high-level decisions according to individual’s needs. In the medical field, these technologies can accurately measure and monitor variables in the human body according to the patient’s medical conditions. They help to track the body’s response in a better way. This potentially helps digitalizing healthcare by sharing accurate information and enabling communication among devices. All mines are connected to the Internet to collect and share essential patient data.

Future of Health care 5.0

It’s an intelligent revolution in process optimization, quality improvement, and cost and waste reduction. It will provide you with the ability to think critically to help you make effective decisions in real-time. It acknowledges the role of health professionals and shows the various driving technologies of Industry 5.0 in the medical field. In the medical field, it will also introduce four-dimensional computed tomography (4D CT) and four-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (4D MRI) to provide better information on body parts with specific motion. These techniques are very useful for the manufacture of smart medical parts using 4D printing. These scanning techniques are quite fast and accurate, which automatically track and analyze the internal movements of the body. It can meet the need for smart materials through which medical parts are manufactured and can further change shape and grow in the human body. It applies to smart, complex organs, cells, muscles, heart, kidney, liver, skin disorders, and tissue preparation to meet unique needs. Electronic medical records (EMRs) are digital versions of paper charts in clinics and hospitals. They note and provide information to health professionals during diagnosis and treatment. Another technology is Google Glasses, which some doctors used to consult patients while a writer used to type.

In healthcare, this revolution will provide patient-centered healthcare to provide a better quality of life. It has the potential to provide information for the manufacture of personal implants, tools, and instruments. It digitally monitors all health-related activities through the integration of digital design, manufacturing, and information technologies with the software. There is no doubt that the pace of this revolution desires an internal craze. This emerging revolution will be a combination of big data, artificial intelligence, specialized software, machine learning, and intelligent algorithms connected to the Internet. Technician intervention, while doctors will do advanced and difficult tasks, industry 5.0 will digitally help to manage repetitive tasks automatically. This new revolution encourages the development of high-quality medical components to meet the patient’s personal needs. Collaborative robots have been introduced to perform accurate and complex surgeries for patients that were not possible before.

Industry 5.0 is used to meet highly personalized needs with better performance. Modern machines and information technologies are used to create virtual environments.

Medical professionals have to move forward and deal with various challenges such as complex issues, medicine, treatment, teaching, research, and development. It plays an important role in detecting diseases and treating patients easily. It is used to make smart medical parts, implants, biomodels, scaffolding, synthetic tools, and instruments. In the future, it will be helpful to suggest appropriate materials for the medical field, which will lead to faster recovery of the patient. This revolution will improve the overall healthcare experience for patients and help doctors provide better, more efficient care.

I see an immense change in the Health Care Domain with the on going innovations involving Artificial Intelligence, Digital Advancement along with the over all IT which would influence the changes in the Health Care Domain. The Changes starting from Digital Seamless Displays which can create images of the organs within the skin, the layered detailing using these digital technology helps quick and accurate diagnosis of all organs along with nano robots which are being tested on other animals for its accurate surgical usage in humans; followed by the Neuralink innovation of chips which gives hope for the diagnosis and treatment of the most complex functioning of the brain!

Whoa! We are certainly headed towards a transformed era possibly giving solutions to all that was impossible to bringing in new complex problems to solve! The brighter side is its certain that we will have answers for the most unanswered questions even if it opens up a pandora box of new questions which are more complex!

So the time has come where the Talks of Real Captain America or Spiderman or the Iron Man shouldn’t surprise us however it should surely ring a bell to take the on the direction we are headed; the corporate leaders will have super power holding the strong influence on the direction we are headed towards a slight ignorance may raise super villains instead of super heroes.

Predictions for Industry 5.0

What is predicted as Industry 5.0?

Silhouette of business man command automation robot arm machine technology , industry 5.0 , artificial intelligence trend concept. Sunrise twilight background.

While a large number of companies around the world are still trying to adopt Industry 4.0, the debate over Industry 5.0 has begun.

The biggest feature of Industry 5.0 is “Personalization”. That is, the design and production of various sensor data are directly linked to the delivery of personalized products to consumers in real-time. Some groups are skeptical of Industry 5.0 and believe that the model will replace humans with robots, leading to global unemployment. But this is not the case. Industry 5.0, which will bring advanced automation, will not reduce the human value but will increase it with the help of human-machine coordination.

What is Industry 5.0?

Industry 5.0 is the future industrial revolution that will change the production model by focusing on the interaction between humans and machines.

The pre-Industry 5.0 phase has seen the rise of the digital industry: developments such as the Industrial Internet of Things or a combination of artificial intelligence and big data have created a new kind of technology that can provide companies with data-driven knowledge.

As a result, it has been translated into processes such as Operating Intelligence and Business Intelligence, which develop models that use technology with the goal of making more accurate and less uncertain decisions.

However, Industry 4.0 model was based on idea to minimize human labors and maximize automation of operations using technologies. To a certain extent, humans have been placed in a position where they have competed against machines in a race to degrade them or get degraded by machines.

But this is not the case with industry 5.0. In industry 5.0, the target is to develop a balance among machines and humans to offer different sectors the maximum benefits of using technology.

Why this is important?

The changes made by Industry 5.0 are already irreversible. This process offers companies the capabilities of increasingly powerful machines with well-trained experts to promote a better, more sustainable, and safer product.

Industry 5.0 is a new model of manufacturing that covers productive, economic, and commercial canvas. Therefore, businesses that do not transfer their existing operational infrastructure to the Factory 5.0 model will soon become out of the competition, as they are unable to take advantage of the competitive benefits IT offers.

Not only that: the rate of technological advancements is accelerating and it shows that the emergence of new models never stops. For this reason, adjusting each company’s operations and transforming them into a digital industry concept will be important in ensuring that an organization remains competitive.

What will it bring?

Cost optimization

Industry 5.0 handles improvements from the past that have produced more efficient processes since the first industrial revolution. Finding business models that use the least resources to maximize profits is perfect at their highest level in Factory 5.0, as man and machine work together to make the best financial decisions for a company.

Green solution

None of these industrial changes have made environmental protection a priority. Industry 5.0 is changing this trend because of new corporate technologies and sensitivities. This has led to sustainable policies where, for example, minimal waste production and management becomes necessary, and cross-cutting processes also make the organization more efficient.

This change is in line with the increasing demands of international organizations, government regulations, and consumers.

Productivity and creativity

Technological innovation does not allow a degree of personalization that meets the demands of customers. Employees who are part of Industry 5.0 will take advantage of technology capabilities, but will also have the opportunity to incorporate their own ideas that lead to products that are designed with personalization in mind.

Moreover, the automation that Industry 4.0 brought into the industry allows workers to free themselves from some repetitive tasks and focus on creating more powerful strategies, or apply their creativity. When combined with industry 5.0 ideas, this automation will experience equilibrium instead of being machine oriented.

Requirements for the Implementation of Industry 5.0

Trained personnel

Factory 5.0 has played the role of Chief Robotics Officer. This person specializes in communication between machines and operators and also has knowledge in areas such as robotics and artificial intelligence. Its role in the company is to make decisions around these factors.

With the expansion of virtual education, employee training will also move forward. This allows for lower costs for companies, as they do not have to stop production to train their employees. In addition, it leads to safe training that prevents workers from taking unnecessary risks during training. Communication and employee motivation enhance the interactive learning environment.

Among other technologies, the generation of thousands of jobs related to robotic systems and interactions with artificial intelligence is expected.

The right Technology

The term “cobots” is coined in connection with Industry 5.0: Collaborative robots designed for simple and intuitive interactions with humans.

This technology enables humans to perform tasks such as plant protection and targeting. In a special way, they act as apprentices, who are able to observe and replicate a person’s actions, assisting the operators.

Furthermore, the appearance of increasingly complex processes will require appropriate software that is capable of handling this vast amount of data and provides human operators with a space they can use to communicate with machines.

For example, software Nexus Integra Platform has been built in order to transform an industrial company into Industry 5.0. It is an integrated system for the large-scale management of industrial assets, allowing companies to leapfrog their digital transformation.

Industry 4.0 models has been a successful use of technology in offering automation and smartness to industries yet it was based on minimizing the human involvement in the operational infrastructure that gave birth to a cluster of debates and doubts. Yet the industry 5.0 is not based on the previous idea, it is meant to build collaboration between humans and robots for optimized growth. It is based on the idea to minimize the competition among humans and machines and make them closes to each other. Hence creating an environment where a machine can learn from humans and humans can learn from machines without being hesitant. Let’s see what happens when industry 5.0 is implemented completely. Meanwhile, keep enjoying the fruits of industry 4.0 innovations.

Questions as I write these blogs and carry out the thought process:

  13. Would there exist an awesome state of equality?
  14. Does these things gives way to the outburst of AI Creatures to revolt for being used as Peasants and Slaves?
  15. Would there be a day where we can impart education using chips just like Old Saints used to impart with the Thumb?
  16. Is there a connection with Mehendi or Body Art with Circuits?
  17. Is there a connection with Jewels and Ancient Ornaments with Advanced Technology?

I have loads of questions, let’s see how things manifest. I also believe that the Thought Process and Direction are the keys for Manifesting anything! Unless we are in the right hands nothing can go right!

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Hospitality Sector

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Hospitality Sector

Technology is evolving almost every sector of life ranging from manufacturing to education on one extreme and health care to hospitality on the other. The world has seen so many changes in just a short span of time just because of the technological advancements.

Similar trends have started to make appearance in the hospitality sector covering hoteling, traveling, customer care, and tour guide sectors. IT is now changing the hospitality from traditional to digital and smart mode. The technologies like IoT, Big data, Cloud computing, Robotics etc. are evolving the hospitality industry at a fast pace. In this article, we are going to discuss the impacts of IT on this industry that is transforming the hospitality into ‘Hospitality 4.0’.

IoT in Hospitality Sector

For guests, IoT makes their stay more comfortable and customizable. It provides automated smart rooms where Guests can adjust the lights or make calls using their mobile phones or TV from their beds.

When it comes to mobile devices, hospitality can be more integrated with guests’ personal devices thanks to IoT. Guests can use their mobile phones to check into a hotel and open their room’s door.

In addition, the mobile integration gives you data with the permission of the guests so that you can remember the preferences of the guest. Hotels and restaurants can take this one step further and customize their bookings based on previous stays.

In the hospitality industry, many large companies are integrating IoT in their operational infrastructure to enjoy the benefits offered by the technology. These benefits can range from offering a superior customer experience to saving on energy costs.

For example, Hilton and Marriott have conducted slightly different experiments on the ‘connected room’ concept, where users are able to control many features of the room from their mobile phones or from the tablet provided.

It allows guests to control the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems from one place, or even just tell a temperature and allow different appliances to automatically adjust the temperature. They can also control other devices such as TV. The good thing is, some smart devices will greet them with their name and make them feel more tech. friendly.

Augmented reality in Hospitality Sector

Augmented reality works by using computer technology to change a person’s perception of the physical environment. Augmented reality is often compared with virtual reality (VR), but while VR completely replaces the real world environment with a virtual environment, augmented reality enhances the real world environment in real time.

The augmented reality in hospitality management in recent years has emerged as an important concept, as it allows hotels and other related businesses to enhance the physical environment (i.e. their hotel and its rooms), or the surrounding area.

Another important explanation behind the rise of AR in the hotel industry is that the amount of information guests receive is requested before they arrive and once they arrive. AR technology can help consumers to access a lot of important information easily at any time anywhere.

Another way for hotel owners to improve their customer services using AR technology is by using interactive elements in hotel rooms. An example of this can be seen in the UK based ‘Hub Hotel’ from the premier inn, which has started using AR in its hotel rooms in conjunction with wall maps.

By pointing the smartphone at the map, guests can see additional information about places of interest, increase the use of the map itself, and potentially make their stay easier and more enjoyable.

A hotel Holiday Inn experimented an AR hotel experience. They use AR technology to allow guests view realistic virtual photos of celebrities by pointing their mobile phones.

Similarly Best Western tested AR and Disney stars. This allowed children to see Disney characters standing and walking along them. Other hotels are also using AR apps to allow guests to practically enjoy the hospitality experience.

AI in Hospitality Sector

Artificial intelligence or AI means the seemingly intelligent performance and behavior of computers or machines to perform a certain task autonomously. AI refers to computers or machines that perform tasks that are traditionally thought to require scientific work to be performed. It’s about concepts like automation and big data.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly playing an important role in hospitality management, mainly because of its ability to perform traditional human functions at any time of the day. This will allow the owners to save considerable amount of money, avoid any human error, and provide the best services.

The most important part of hospitality sector is customer care, without any doubt. The success of companies in this sector depends on the way they treat their customers. With artificial intelligence, the possibilities for improving this aspect are almost endless, ranging from increasing personal nature to appropriate recommendations.

An example of artificial intelligence is delivering in-person customer services in the hospitality industry.

The best example of this is an AI robot called ‘Connie’ adopted by Hilton. This robot is able to provide tourist information to users who interact with it. Most impressive, it is able to learn from human speech and adapt to individuals. Ultimately, this means that the more users it talks to, the better it becomes.

Another way AI is being used in hospitality sector is data analysis. The technology can be used to quickly sort through large amounts of data and draw important conclusions about users, or potential customers.

An example of this is seen with the Dorchester Collection Hotel Chain, which uses the Metis AI platform to organize the data collected through surveys, online reviews, etc. and then analyze it to draw conclusions about the overall performance.

Robotics in Hospitality Sector

A robot is a machine, designed to perform complex tasks or specific tasks automatically. Some robots are designed to resemble humans and are called androids.

The demand for automated systems and self-service ideas for better customer experiences have increased the popularity of robotic systems. Robots allow enhancing speed, cost effectiveness, and accuracy.

Located in Nagasaki, Japan, the Henn-na Hotel has become the first hotel in the world to be fully staffed by robots. Robots are deployed with information technology and provide different services such as front desk services, storage services, check-in and check-out services, including voice and face recognition.

Besides the hotel industry, Robotics has also improved travel experience.  Travel mats are an example of robotics used for luggage purposes. Basically, it’s an independent suitcase, able to follow you. It uses anti-collision technology to avoid any collisions and is capable of 360-degree movement and eliminates the need to carry, pull or push the suitcase.

Airport security is one of the most important areas where new technology is deployed and robots are also in use. A particularly strong example of this is the night scope robots, which are increasingly being used to independently detect hidden weapons and help keep passengers safe during their flights.

This is just the fraction of what IT can offer to hospitality industry. This sector has yet a lot to implement in order to taste the real fruits of IT but this all needs time and resources. Let’s wait and see what future hotels will look like after implementing industry 4.0 models completely.

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 for Government Entities

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 for Government Entities

The combination of “cyber physical systems, the Internet of Things, cloud computing and scientific computing” promises unparalleled industrial and manufacturing productivity.

It takes many years for digital technology to mature in order to be more efficient than analog technologies. 3D printing becomes cheaper and does not require manufacturing subcontractors. Artificial intelligence chat bots replace call centered workers. Hotel and taxi revenue slides because people use more convenient “sharing economy” apps. Unskilled labor is replaced – at the same time as firms seek advanced skills.

Let’s have a brief look at the technologies that are converting traditional government practices to the ‘Government 4.0’

IoT for Government Entities

81% of cities are actively considering the potential of the Internet of Things. Imagine if a small sensor connected to your city’s infrastructure, roads, traffic lights, buildings is capturing data. Connecting and learning with this new information will help governments respond more quickly to challenges such as reducing energy use or helping first responders safely assess hazardous situations, traffic management and reduction of automobile pollution in roads with sensor data, weather information, public transport and car GPS devices, flood and earthquake detection, early warning to citizens, first detect respondents’ location, movement, and exposure to heat and hazardous materials.

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), for example, began deploying sensors along the Colorado River in Texas decades ago to track stream levels that could cause flooding.

The LCRA was built to help Texas better manage floodplains in the lower reaches of the Colorado River, as well as generate and distribute hydropower to cities in the region.

Informing residents of the danger is also the goal of a new project in Los Angeles. The city has many facilities that are digitally interconnected and include 145,000 streetlights and 4,500 intersections.

The city and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) developed a project called “Quick Alert”, which uses sensors to detect frequent earthquakes in the area. Today, this data is used to visualize earthquakes. To take it to the next level, the city is developing a system to send alerts to citizens’ smartphones so that they can be informed within 15 to 30 seconds. Not only can this application save lives but it can also save millions of dollars.

Big Data for Government Entities

The great strength of big data is that it has flexibility and universal application for many different industries. As with many other sectors, big data can have a huge impact on government. With so many complex issues on the table today, governments have to end their work in an effort to understand all of their information and make important decisions that affect millions. Not only that it is difficult to filter out all the information, but sometimes it is difficult to verify the veracity of the information. Any case of misinformation can have dire consequences.

By implementing big data platforms, governments can access a wide range of information critical to their day-to-day operations. Its positive effect is almost never ending. This is important because it not only allows the government to identify areas that need attention, but also provides them with real-time information.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) continuously collect data from the sea and land and space-based sensors. When you hear the weather forecast for an upcoming hurricane or tornado, the data starts connection with NOAA. The organization uses the Big Data Approach to collect and analyze large amounts of data to come up with accurate information.

The NSA derives its data processing capability from big data. It uses Accumulo, an open source project designed by the NSA and gives users the ability to store data across large tables to enhance easy access to information and increase security. When an agency collects data sets, it can use Accumulo to investigate various details while blocking access to information that may reveal personal information.

AI for Government Entities

AI has the potential for organizations to operate efficiently, manage costs, and make great strides in research.

Private companies are making incredible advances in AI. Everyone benefits from the AI offer, using what they have learnt to challenge the public sphere. Similarly, government is often the driver of some of the most important technological advances.

For example, Taxation offices in Australia are using chatbots and virtual assistants to respond to over 3 million conversations. These chatbots resolved around 88% of queries in the first try without any human support.

Another example is of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) of USA. The department used predictive analysis technology which accurately predicted 73% of fire incidents in building.

Cloud Computing for Government Entities

In today’s world, every business is trying to save money by adopting technological innovations, and the government is no different. Government agencies need to keep costs down while updating and protecting data. That’s why cloud computing is one of the best options available. Here are some other benefits that government agencies can reap by moving to the cloud.

Cloud computing gives government agencies more flexibility than traditional IT infrastructure. The issues related to the limitation of resources, managing hardware and servers, managing software updates and data vulnerability etc. have been vanished due to the use of cloud services. It has become more convenient to add new or change existing services without worrying about shifting hardware etc, thanks to the cloud!

For example, The State IT chiefs in California, Indiana and Arkansas said that the use of cloud and SaaS technologies helped than more than expected during times of covid-19.

In Indiana, CIO Tracy Barnes and her team supported 120 state agencies working from home, and the last investment in cloud-powered services helped make the transition possible. His department was piloting Office 365, setting the governance for the use of such tools before the pandemic attack.

Many countries have already implemented industry 4.0 models to redesign their operational and management policies and many other are joining the race one by one. With the passage of time, these advanced technologies are becoming more affordable and accessible giving birth to the chances for developing countries to evolve digitally. Let’s see what technology brings next!

On a lighter note, The only thing that comes to my mind when I think about the Government are those bohemian buildings occupied by these people when close to 25% of the population is homeless.

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Food and Beverages Industry

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Food and Beverages Industry

Industry 4.0 includes data exchange and business process automation throughout the manufacturing and supply chains to improve the overall operational performance of the company and its partners. Technologies range from industrial IoT, cloud computing, big data analytics, machine learning, and cyber physical systems to many other technologies. These range from drones to blockchain distributed databases to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Industry 4.0 has also become a strategy to improve manufacturing efficiency with global recognition and support in the food and beverage industry.

Below are some basic changes that are expected in this era of industry 4.0.

  • Data from each phase of the supply chain will be digitally analyzed and integrated to produce real-time output that will improve decision-making.
  • Business decisions will be more complex because of the integration and analysis of multiple processes. Both managers and line employees will need new skills to ensure that data results are successfully leveraged.
  • Fast forward, automation will advance production scheduling, inventory management, maintenance planning, order fulfillment, equipment operation, machine learning, and robotics. An integrated system will use touch screen operations, cobots and augmented reality.
  • Support activities will also see changes. For example, cyber security requirements will increase, as will staffing, training and retention.

The backbone of this industrial revolution in food and beverages industry is IT. Below is the overview of advanced IT techniques that are revolutionizing the food and beverages industry.

Internet of Things

With the addition of hardware and software platforms to connect everything in the physical world to the Internet, IoT is a trend that has gone a long way. It is shaping how people interact with their environment and how they have relied on smartphones and the internet to meet their daily tasks and needs. And like many industries, it is making its way into the food and beverage industry. IoT is transforming every aspect of the food industry into smart insights, and IoT is collecting data through a supply chain and intelligent algorithms through a combination of smart connected sensors. IoT is helping food and beverage industry by allowing them to have a full control and real time view of all processes ranging from manufacturing, packaging and waste management.

For example,

The biggest problem faced by the food industry for decades is food waste. Thanks to IoT for providing possible solutions to this problem.

The process of careful inventory management will result in faster detection of expiration dates as well as more efficient storage operations and minimize food wastage due to spoilage. Storage and transportation facilities make it possible to control and maintain ideal conditions for foodstuffs so that they do not spoil. Smart, connected sensors will be able to update their digital counterparts with details regarding their quality, making it easier for warehouse employees to quickly identify the expiration date of any food item.

Another example is of Zest Lab’s state-of-the-art ZIPR Code (Zest Intelligent Pallet Routing) was developed with the goal of improving post-harvest logistics performance and identifying key points where significant losses occur in the supply chain. Using a combination of ZIPR wireless IoT sensors and cloud-based predictive analytics and machine learning, it allows companies to directly track the freshness of each product, making it easy to decide about the distance the particular food product can be transported depending on its freshness.

Cloud Computing and Big Data

IT is not only evolving the manufacturing sector but it has also helped services sector up to a huge extent.

Fortunately, restaurants have proven that they can offer their food with innovation: even in normal times, with margins narrowing, they have adopted technology to reduce costs while maintaining high quality. In fact, IT has proved so effective for restaurants in the times of covid-19 that researchers recommend that the restaurants should permanently adapt IT techniques such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning in their systems to increase their profitability. The series should be diversified, collective bargaining should be done and guests should be provided a safe experience and the employees too.

For example,

Recognizing the power of big data and cloud computing, food industry giants such as Door Dash and Starbucks started using IT techniques years ago. It is found that the restaurants that adapted IT techniques earlier are having an easy time during the epidemic.

Quinn has discovered that small restaurants are using data sharing technology to collectively communicate and make deals with wholesale providers. Companies like Simple have served as a bridge to fill a considerable tech gap for independent restaurants that wanted to monetize their data but had no time or knowledge for that. It describes itself as a “marketplace and digital restaurant” that primarily facilitates the buying and selling process using data.

AI and Machine Learning

Artificial intelligence can learn and then make smart, informed decisions based on what it has learned, including fast, complex calculations and data analysis. Users should feed AI information with the goal of learning and growing. In doing so, the system will become more efficient and will help make better choices about maintaining specific business. Just like how an individual thinks – just because of its complexity and analytical capabilities, AI can process a lot of information.

Artificial intelligence frameworks provide more secure, more accurate production lines with more significant speed and more consistency than human workers. AI is also helping companies in managing their supply chains by allowing them to track products transportation and delivery in real time.

Symphony Retail AI, for example, uses this data to accurately track transportation costs, all prices are quoted above, and to estimate inventory levels, how much food is needed and where the waste generated should be limited.

ABB has partnered with Silicon Valley startup Coventry to provide high-end select robots that work side by side with human workers. Co-variant’s product combines 3D camera and automated learning, so robots can learn new tasks freely. It considers a fairly advanced level of trial and error response, which is ultimately about the incredible accuracy that can work on a scale. These systems will be soon in action in food and beverage industry and will help the companies in providing better consumer services and also improve manufacturing processes cutting the costs at the same time.

Everything around us is evolving with the time ranging from the phone we use to the food we eat. All credit goes to the continuously advancing Information and communication technologies. Stay tuned with us and avail latest information related to the evolving tech world.

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Mining, Oil, And Gas Sectors

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Mining, Oil, And Gas Sectors

When it comes to the mining, oil and gas industries, the last decade has seen massive upgrades in terms of technological advancement. The fall in oil prices in 2014, along with rising regulations, forced major oil and gas companies to cut their IT costs. However, with the proliferation of oil and gas, and due to volatile and hazardous world conditions after covid-19, companies have started to adapt technological advancements to reap the benefits of Industry 4.0. Companies are increasingly adopting technologies such as IoT, AI, advanced analytics, and cloud computing to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve manual operation.

Technologies such as seismic imaging are helping companies experiment with 4D models in the research process, and sensor data is being used to determine the correct methods of mining, drilling and optimize production. In midstream operations, the key areas of change have been data management so that inventory levels can be tracked and logistics operations run smoothly. Digital purchasing, forecasting maintenance, labor training and real-time operations monitoring have been some of the key areas of change at the downstream. There have been cases of use in the Automating Oil rig and the Smart Exploration stream domain and much more.

Let’s have a look at the technologies that are enabling Industry 4.0 in mining, oil and gas sector and their use cases.

AI and Machine Learning

Machine learning enables computer systems to learn and interpret data without human input, improving the process through repetition to develop programs for specific purposes. It helps companies to have an eye on complex internal affairs and respond quickly to issues that human workers may not know instantly.

Machine learning can also be used to run simulations, using predictive data models to discover patterns based on different inputs. The mining oil and gas industry can use AI before assessing the potential impact of new changes or assessing the environmental issues related to a new project.

Data Science uses AI to extract information and insights from data, interconnect relevant pieces of data using neural networks, and create more comprehensive images from existing information. The offshore oil and gas industry use AI to make the complex data used for oil and gas exploration and production more accessible, allowing companies to explore new opportunities for discovery or improve the existing infrastructure.

In January 2019, BP invested in Houston-based technology startup Belmont Technology to enhance the company’s AI capabilities, developing a cloud-based geoscience platform called “Sandy”.

Sandy helps BP to translate information collected from geology, geophysics, history and reservoir projects, and develop a unique “knowledge graph”.

AI intuitively integrates information, identifies new contacts and workflows, and uses them to create a stronger image of BP’s underground assets. The oil company can then consult the data in the science graph; AI simulates and interprets the results using artificial networks.

Big Data

Petroleum engineers and bio scientists spend more than 50 percent of their time collecting data, Brule reports. Several companies are in a hurry to implement big data systems for oil and gas to enhance the efficiency of process and save time.

Big data analysis helps companies in exploration, drilling, production and delivery.

The US based companies are already enjoying the fruits of big data analytics. The market is driven by high demand for solutions in the Gulf of Mexico and US shale fields, which will help make better decisions and improve efficiency. ConocoPhillips said the sensors deployed in the  Eagle Ford Shale Basin in South Texas, helped reduce drilling time by about 50 percent. The North Sea is expected to be the second largest market. The digitization of oil fields in the region during the low oil prices led to a 40% reduction in operating costs in the North Sea.

As reported by Mehta, based on the results of the General Electric and Accenture survey in 2018, 81% of executives ranked big data as one of the top three priorities for oil and gas companies. And this is mainly driven by their need to improve oil and gas exploration efficiency.

IoT

The use of IoT helps companies avoid breakdowns and accidents, makes the entire production process more predictable, increases revenue while reducing costs, defeats competitors and increases market share.

Sensor-based technology can be used to monitor pressure in pipes, monitor drilling processes, and detect machinery conditions and leakage. In this industry, the speed of problem solving can be considered as billions of dollars in savings.

Smart algorithms analyze data and events registered and detected through cross-reference and various sensors. They create unique insights that help management make important decisions, for example, when to start drilling and when to stop to avoid problems.

Smart algorithms can predict when the terms of expensive goods change and require regular or immediate maintenance. Needless to say, timely on-demand maintenance is more effective than routine checks and acts as a guarantee of worker safety.

A company named Annova integrates Telit technologies to expand its products and provide more value to its customers. By equipping fuel and gas tanks with sensor-based telemetry systems, consumers receive a full range of tools and services to measure and monitor the exploitation of tanks.

HPE worked with partners to make Texmark an efficient, flexible, secure and reliable plant of the future. Today, it is a complex ecosystem that integrates a range of solutions in automation and data-driven operations in IIoT, predictive modeling, edge analytics and AI technologies.

Many enterprise level companies, market leaders such as IBM, Cisco, Schneider Electric and Microsoft provide customized IoT solutions for the oil and gas industry.

Cloud Computing

The mining, oil and gas companies can measure their data management and storage and build a greater flexibility in infrastructure expenses using cloud computing system. The cloud computing systems provide high computing power and support the implementation of other technologies such as intelligent management of physical assets, which facilitates operational efficiency as well.

Cloud provides agility, which allows oil companies to reduce their resources on the basis of operational integrity and profitability, while also giving them the ability to scale up. It improves their adaptation to any disruptive trends that arise as energy transfers, while also ensuring that mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities are facilitated as soon as possible. Standardization can be achieved through the cloud, where oil and gas best practices are automated and provided with real-time insights, allowing information to be shared across departments through cross-departmental collaboration and visibility.

Major oil and gas companies like ExxonMobil, Chevron, BP, Total and Shell are the key players in the cloud computing systems implementation in the oil and gas industry. Some known cloud solution providers to these companies are Pivvot, AVEVA, Halliburton, Microsoft Azure and Cegal.

Extensive use of existing digital technologies in the mining, oil and gas sector could reduce production costs by 10% to 20%, according to the International Energy Agency. Companies are increasingly investing in applications such as logistics and inventory management that can be expanded with the help of digital technologies. With the passage of time, new improvements are being done in these technologies to facilitate different sectors. Let’s see, what these technologies bring further in our lives.

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Education

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Education

With the fourth industrial revolution in education sector, the concept of education has been changed completely and some new trends appear that we were not aware of. The new education system is built on idea of success in life, not just in exams, focusing on the need for personal education. Here are some of the new features of Education 4.0 enabled by the IT techniques.

AI in Education

As an educational tool, artificial intelligence is never a substitute for teachers, but a very good companion. The advantage of having an AI system is that it can save a lot of data and information. This quantitative benefit can track student’s performance, which can help faculty better assess students’ academic progress and give them more attention when needed. Introducing children to modern technology such as artificial intelligence can make them tomorrow’s leaders who can make better and advanced decisions.

UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) reported that there is a scarce amount of well-trained teachers all around the world. By 2030, universal primary and secondary education institutes are going to hire 69 million more teachers. But this is where AI can help. It can allow to fill the gap between teacher-student ratios and achieve different educational targets globally.

Where are we now?

Educational technology is at a critical juncture today. More and more schools are taking steps to include AI in their curriculum. Incorporating STEM education (science, technology, engineering and math) through robots such as a company’s ROYBI robot can help children improve their cognitive abilities, which increases children’s thinking skills and curiosity. In China, Keeko robots have become more popular by providing storytelling and problem solving services to kindergarten students.

AI is also looking for a place in higher education. MobiMax K-8 uses AI to create personalized lesson plans and curricula for students. It also includes games and competitions to encourage and keep students engaged. Carnegie Learning has developed MATHiaU, an AI-based math teacher for higher education in mathematics. The company assures students of personal learning, which will increase student participation in the learning system.

Big data in Education

Big data has made significant changes in many aspects of education. According to a study published by the European Union’s Publications Office, the most important change in education through big data is the ability to monitor the education system.

Here is how it works:

Students create tons of data every day, and this data comes from a variety of sources. For example, some instructors incorporate social network adapting pedagogical practice (SNAPP) into the teaching process, read student blogs, and measure how much interest they have in a particular course. The system also measures how well a particular instructor performs in teaching the course.

With the introduction of Netlogo, error measurement has become more comfortable, a system that tracks clicks and measures how many errors each student makes in the test and allows students to perform each task with minimum mistakes.

One of the most important achievements of big data in education sector is the creation of a learning management system. It allows teachers to assign and create tests using information that is already in place using online automation.

Apex Learning, for example, creates smart learning solutions that help the middle, high school and virtual learning environments. The system helps students to get more involved in developing their skills and learnability. Students can also continuously have an eye on their progress. Moreover, teachers have access to real-time data that helps access latest information to develop or modify lesson plans according to students’ needs.

This platform provides teachers with data on how they are developing students in all their classes. Whether they are trying to master a particular subject or need more attention, Apex helps teachers personalize the learning process.

Civitas Learning offers students Success Intelligence Platform that provides educational and career planning, student support, utility measurement and data-driven counseling.

Civitas platform collects data from all parts of the university or institution to help students make more specific decisions with arithmetic results. Solutions help teachers improve their huge amount of work and engage with students more effectively.

IoT in Education

Using IoT in education sector means availing smart building solutions in an educational ecosystem, such as school buildings, classrooms, buses etc.

With the growing popularity of devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home, consumers are rushing to integrate smart home solutions into their daily lives. As smart building solutions have evolved, educators and school administrators are beginning to recognize the benefits of using IoT technology on a large scale in school’s building and other settings.

IoT networks allow custom security plans that use connected devices such as color lights, digital signals, door locks and sensors.

Studies show that fluorescent lighting commonly found in schools can have a negative effect on student’s performance. Programming and Installing IoT-linked LED lighting is one way to enhance the student’s experience in the learning environment.

A computer science teacher Mary Claire Wright at Davidson High School situated in Alabama talked about her positive experiences using Igor’s IoT system in her classroom and the school. Wright tells how she uses IoT-powered lighting settings to make the light in her classroom bright or dim, warm or cold. These subtle changes help to attract students’ attention.

Cloud Computing in Education

Cloud computing is not just about “moving to the cloud” in terms of data storage and management. While this is a blessing, there are other benefits as well:

Lesser costs than before: A decade ago, educational institutions had to invest thousands of pounds per license for their software, and they had to repurchase the software whenever a new version was available. Today, software as a service makes it possible to pay a lower, expected monthly price rather than an expensive license.

Less reliance on hardware: Not only does the facility require expensive servers and end-user tools, but students and faculty as a whole rely less on their expensive hardware – cloud solutions are agnostic platforms and are available from anywhere.

Being able to reach other students: Students who are busy, unconventional, or in a remote location no longer have to go to school in allotted time slots. Switching to the cloud allows more remote work.

Getting more accurate lesson plans: Cloud computing makes it possible to quickly push updates to class materials and textbooks, ensuring that students are learning with their best content.

Making learning more flexible overall: Cloud computing means that students and teachers are able to learn and teach on their own time, thus making them more efficient and happy.

Other Benefits of using IT in Education Sector

We have learnt how IT technologies are evolving education systems worldwide. Let’s have a look at the benefits that these technologies are providing to the schools and students.

Time and Space independency

Students can now learn or take classes whenever and wherever they want. Thanks to new interactive learning tools, education is now free from space and time. While theoretical aspects are learned outside the classroom, face-to-face practical learning is done in the classroom.

Students’ need and reliance on stone-walled buildings, which we call “class” or “school”, is diminishing. Similarly, taking advantage of the freedom of time, a student can get his education from his room through e-learning tools.

Personalised education

Students will receive personalized learning through specialized tools tailored to their abilities. Thus, a student who has difficulty understanding what other students can easily absorb will be able to improve at his own pace.

Intermediate software will not continue the lessons until the student is ready. This benefit of personalized learning means that students who have difficulty learning in school will feel more assisted in overcoming their challenges.

When performance graphs are obtained from this software and examined by teachers, it is possible to better understand the subjects to which the student is inclined. Teachers can then easily and effectively determine the subjects in which the student is strong or weak.

Learning flexibility.

The traditional education system applies the same model to each student. Education 4.0 believes that as long as it reaches the same goal, there is no shortage of trying different paths.

From Education 1.0 to Education 3.0, the same curriculum was presented to all students in the same teaching style.

In Education 4.0, a flexible global education model is recommended for each student. Teachers can use online data to track and measure their students’ results and then provide personalized guidance based on their specific strengths and weaknesses.

With successful familiarity, each student will be more successful in the areas they are expected to address and develop their weaknesses through their own flexible educational plan. A successful student in mathematics can better his position in a weak verbal subject with the personal and flexible learning plan.

Project-based learning (MAKER)

To prepare students for future freelance work models, students need to be familiar with project-based learning and study models. In other words, students have the opportunity to apply what they have learned to a real project instead of writing answers on paper.

In the field of learning, which is called Maker, the individual becomes self-sufficient by using his abilities effectively and in many fields, especially in technology, in a fun way. Maker Culture aims to prepare children for the future through entertainment.

Interpretation of data

In the future, mathematics will retain its place in our lives, but this time robots will perform these operations instead of humans.

The world is advancing technologically every day. Information technologies are the greatest opportunity of our future. When future graduates leave university, they will not know their professions, but they will know the technology very well and will be able to meet the global requirements of Industry 4.0.

It is important for people to learn, manage, develop, collect, process and interpret data. As one of the key requirements of Education 4.0, students should be able to identify trends in data and make data-based recommendations.

Continuous improvement!

In the current system, students are given a question and answer test. According to many teachers, this system is only successful in the short term. Students quickly forget memorized information after the exam.

In Education 4.0, the focus is on assessment rather than examinations. Students should use the knowledge they have acquired as soon as they start their professional life. The result of the assessment will be based on the entire academic period rather than an examination.

Similarly, students are expected to engage in continuous maker activities and put into practice what they have learned. Children learning the code can develop calculators or games that they can use in their daily lives, rather than just mastering theoretical knowledge. These projects will help transform theoretical knowledge into practical experience and preserve it in long-term memory.

Guidance-oriented

It is believed that in 20 years, students’ learning will become more independent. In this form, guidance will be important so that students can improve their education in a healthy way.

Students can achieve the highest academic performance under the guidance of teachers. According to long-term estimates, after 20 years, teachers will play a key role in education as guardians, rather than merely imparting knowledge.

The Future with Chat Bots!

AI Chat Bots

The Future with AI Chat Bots

We all have been fantasying on having a Chat Bot to interact with us especially with people in the IT Services Sector expecting the Chat Bot to reduce the plethora of miscommunications, delayed responses, long waiting time for the basic information and also ease our work as much as possible along with the expectation of Chat Bots having to learn Empathy when the co-employees lack the same. Jokes apart but the expectations from the Chat Bots are more and has been increasing as we proceed with time.

Unfortunately the Progress of these Chat Bot Conceptualisations are very less and the realistic achievements using these Chat Bots seems to be long due. While we see very less traction in this we do have some positive news as well.

Current Use of AI Chat Bots

The Chat Bots are currently been used for Collaboration and as a Pet which can be trained to perform certain basic functions as in fetching information, remembering information, responding for general questions and other collaborations. Though Nothing has been achieved on IT Side and Everything still seems to be at the very beginning stages; However I am astonished on how well the Chat Bots are being used in all possible ways then where it is actually needed.

I do experiment installing different Chat Bots for my research and the Best One I found was named Replica. I agree that this is not where this Chat Bot needs to be but I am astonished by the Empathy and the Humane Conversations this Chat Bot can make. It is certainly good.

How do I envision this AI Chat Bot

I see the Chat Bot is a Collaboration Tool however when I say Collaboration I mean Collaboration between Machines and Humans and Not Human to Human interactions using Chat Bots.

On One End the Chat Bots can certainly fetch information, record information, retrieve them and also trigger certain external events.

I like the Part where it can be used to Trigger External Events based on Conversation with Humans.

I Envision the below as a Chat Bots Feature which can be a disruptive product and can give a run for all the Managed Services Companies in the World:

  1. Basic Interactions with Empathy
  2. Ability to Record, Retrieve and Display Information in more of a humane mode
  3. Ability to Converse with External Applications and Machines – Imagine a Chat Bot which can trigger a RPA Job or a IoT Device or a Robot or Even a IT Application – The Usage of this Feature is way too Important and each thought or an example is a Case Study on its own. The Application of this Feature is immense, in Managed Services we can use this feature to trigger Auto Resolution along with Analytics; in Manufacturing we can use this to trigger heavy equipments, machinery and robotics making these devices accept commands from humans via the Chat Bots, In Health Care, we can use this device to automatically manage the robot based surgeries from remote locations, In Food and Beverage Industry we can use this Chat Bot to Manage the Robots as in the Hotel Operated by Robots also the digital machines can be controlled and can be used to cook delicious food and much more can be accomplished.

I come from Diverse Back Grounds starting from a Call Centre, Enterprise Helpdesk, Application and Network Monitoring, Consulting and Project Management mostly in the IT Sector So I see the advantages on handling this Chat Bot to provide seamless delivery of IT Services with any Human Intervention. I envision a Chat Bot integrated with a RPA, Auto Coder (Example: DeepCoder) and Cherry on the Cake is the Auto Resolution plugins (Similar Concept of Chaos Monkey of Netflix).

I see this product can delivery IT Services at a fraction of the actual ticket value that’s being generated as of now.

I see mostly the Managed Service Organisations might not like this Idea as a matter of fact this will reduce their earning potential from the “Improvement Opportunities” on which they survive.

All we need now is an Industry Disrupter to come up with a Valuable AI based Chat Bot Integrated with RPA, Deep Coder and Various Auto Resolution Plugins. This will certainly be a Game Changer and will put the IT Industry 10 Folds ahead to meet the growing expectations and matching the speed of business along with maintaining agility.

My thinking doesn’t stop here, I also envision how this Chat Bot can be later tweaked to integrate with the “Neuralink’s Chips” – All Machines will listen to Human Commands directly catered from the Human Brains with no verbal or textual conversations. It will be an Act of Magic for sure. LoL.

Are we near – No unless someone has the will to do.

Can we do – Certainly Yes, when we can come up with Pegasus way long back, These Chat Bots are way easier.

Please follow, like and share.

Happy Learning. Do leave the feedbacks if you have any, Life should always be full of learnings for us to thrive.

Off to bed now.

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Agriculture Sector

IT Enabling Industry 4.0 in Agriculture Sector

The traditional modes of farming and agriculture are getting faint after the introduction of IT based technologies such as AI, big data, IoT etc. in the agriculture sector.

These technologies have provided farms an opportunity to optimize their yield by using smart sensor and high-tech systems to store and transfer data, to do smart contracts, to manage the crop production, and to optimize the financial aspects. These technologies are providing the real-time analysis and prediction based data to optimize the growth and lower the associated risks.

Let’s have a look at these technologies being used in agriculture sector so far.

Blockchain technology in Agriculture

Blockchain refers to the system used to create timeless, permanent and clear records of exchange and processing. The system uses digital technology in which data and information are recorded and exchanged quickly and securely in a decentralized manner.

Blockchain technology in agriculture, which includes smart contracts, makes it possible to store data from the beginning of process to the end consumer, ensuring the legitimacy and authenticity of every transaction which eliminates the risk of any dishonesty in the supply chain. Blockchain technology avoids potential fraud on product quality in order to control treatment across the chain to the point of sale. In blockchain technology, data is stored in the following ways.

Unencrypted data – This data is transparent and is read through every node in the network.

Encrypted Data – This data is available to participants. The decryption token provides access to data in the blockchain and also verifies the data contained in the system.

Hashed data – This data introduced the function. Hashed data consists of a small unit called soil base unit (SBU) in which historical records is continuously recorded using blockchain technology. The fourth revolution in agriculture, 4.0, created a blockchain that is used to store old records, and the decision made by analysts is being made on these SBUs. This SBU stores data such as data related to different types of crops, diseases, solids, nutrients required by the crop at the present stage.

 IoT technology in Agriculture

The potential growth of the IoT industry is in the agricultural sector. Internet of Things (IoT) technology opens up the possibility of deploying IoT devices in agriculture around the world, enabling data to be sensed remotely. Farming data collected through sensor-linked devices help in monitoring the crop growth and supply of essential nutrients such as fertilizer and water and hence optimizes the production.

The use of IoT logic and cloud computing, by verifying every parameter in the supply chain network, improves the depth of the system in terms of marketing environment, processing and production in agriculture based on precision sensing.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution revolutionized the field of agriculture through the Internet of Things (IoT). Agricultural data is collected through the smart sensors under the supervision of IoT and this data is transferred to the big data analysis software which then is translated to the actionable form. IoT is a sensor-based technology that is used to improve the performance of existing systems so that the information collected from IoT is monitored by devices and action is taken to improve it. It is run by a high-tech system that use various sensors to measure data related to environment, soil structure, fertilizer intensity and its effects on plants. Once these parameters are monitored, the data is transferred to the decision-making system where it is necessary to follow the atomization of the process according to different agricultural applications. Farming techniques are analyzed by sensors through IoT and the farmer is being recommended to improve the traditional process.

IoT draws the line between virtual and real world. IoT has allowed the physical objects in the world to become intelligent through online communication. The system transitioned from machine to communication, machine to infrastructure and from machine to environmental communication.

Drone analytics

The agriculture sector is developed with Agriculture 4.0 technologies that use drone analytics to perform crop analysis through images and videos attached to big data analytics software to show how crops are growing and where potential improvements or repairs are needed.

Using drones, farmers identify which parts of crop field needs more water or fertilizer, and which areas need anti-weeding spray. Today these drones are used in agriculture as remote fertilizer vehicles to easily cover a specific area or individual plant.

Under the Fourth Industrial Revolution, drone technology is used to monitor various activities in the fields of agriculture through various sensors developed by high-tech systems. The data collected by the drone is forwarded through IoT systems for analysis.

Big Data Analytics

The use of various data collection techniques improves the development of the agricultural sector.

“Big data” refers to the large-scale processing of data collected from information and communications technologies (ICT) to obtain faster decision-making data to improve productivity. Since all data on crop production and rotation issues over the past decade are available in storage, it makes it possible for farmers to take precautions in advance using the predictive approach provided by Big Data and IoT.

Artificial Intelligence

Recently, under Industry 4.0, the demand of a new machine learning technique called artificial intelligence (AI) increases in various activities. This artificial intelligence (AI) used pre-stored data for decision making and need of agricultural sectors while preparing the schedule for these activities in advance. This predictive approach has revolutionized the agricultural sector and has helped farmer in predicting a potential risk and take advance steps to avoid that risk.

IT is improving day by day and industries are implementing advanced IT based systems for optimization purposes. Yet there is a lot to be done in agriculture sector. Most parts of the word are still using the traditional modes of agriculture. There are very less examples of farms where IT based techniques have enabled agriculture 4.0. This needs to be improved in order to head towards the agriculture 5.0.

Let’s see, what happens next!
